IDinosaur/I typifies why most serious gamers stay away from movie-to-video-game properties. More often than not, they don't play well or look anything like the films they are meant to re-create. While there are exceptions, IDinosaur/I is the rule.p As you have probably guessed from the Disney logo on the front of the packaging, IDinosaur/I is an action-adventure that is based on the Disney animated feature film of the same name. The plot and dialogue of IDinosaur/I is irritating, but not as much as the awkward control and the substandard graphics. The game puts you in control of three characters: Aladar, a large iguanodon who relies on his swift charge and tail slap; Zini, a lemur who can jump and run very fast; and Flia, a pteranodon who can fly and glide through levels and is also the master of a swoop attack. All of the prehistoric beasts' skills are designed to complement each other. As you make your way through the game, you must use their skills in tandem to traverse the game's various stages. The PlayStation controller's shoulder buttons allow you to switch between characters.p Sandbox Studios, the game-design firm that developed IDinosaur/I for Disney Interactive, has not done this license justice. AREA 51 VIDEO GAME VERSION.
Chances are, if you've ever been in a bowling alley, bar, or pizza parlor in your lifetime, you've encountered at least one Area 51 arcade machine. Originally debuting as a light gun-based shooter, This is perhaps for a reason, considering the original game, let alone its follow-up sequels, wasn't really that great to begin with. Thankfully, Midway's latest version of Area 51 bears little resemblance to its predecessors. Now, Area 51 is a first-person shooter. The original game's titular setting has remained intact, as has its army of mutated villains. However, Midway has decided to inject some storyline into this version, as well as a smattering of Hollywood voice talent and a pretty-nice-looking graphics engine. Unfortunately, all this gussying up can't gloss over what's ultimately an average shooter that doesn't offer up more than a handful of satisfying thrills throughout its single-player and multiplayer modes.
As the title would suggest, Area 51 takes place at the infamous, eponymous military installation, where the US government supposedly houses all its secret alien technologies picked up after the Roswell, New Mexico, incident of the 1940s. As one might expect, for this to be much of a game, something has to go horribly wrong; and indeed, it does. You play as Ethan Cole, a HAZMAT operative sent in with his team--a prototypically ragtag bunch--to assess some manner of viral outbreak within the walls of Area 51. After a gruff meet and greet with the local military personnel, you're sent in guns blazing. What you end up finding is a horde of mutated soldiers, scientists, and other alien creatures wandering about the place, looking to infect and/or kill whatever comes their way. Oh, and there's also a whole bunch of nonsense involving the Illuminati, psychics, those little bigheaded, gray-skinned aliens we've all come to know and love, and a whole lot of crazy conspiracies thrown in to the mix. | *$47.98 |

INBA Hoopz/I is strictly for the basketball fan who thinks the sport is all about spectacular dunks, lots of shoving, and little or no strategy. With the goofy gameplay and hyper-exaggerated NBA player renderings, b-ball purists probably will (and should) dismiss this as the dumbest of arcade games for the PS2.pIHoopz/I is basically the latest generation of basketball games in the ultra-arcadey INBA Showtime/I or INBA Jam/I vein and has little in common with the more accurate simulations of the Live and Shootout series. In most respects it plays slightly better than the older arcade-style titles, if only because IHoopz/I is a three-on-three game.pMost gamers will immediately notice the enlarged heads and huge biceps on even the lankiest of NBA players. Also, the fast-paced action basically centers on hurling the ball around the court as quickly as possible without any regard for complicated play calling. In fact, most ballers can easily jump 25 feet above the rim for ridiculous, death-defying dunks that, of course, deliver the ultimate in sports fantasy.pUnlike most of the 2001 season of "real" basketball games for the PS2, IHoopz/I stretches gameplay with a few mini games. Included are variants on 21, Around the World, Three-Point Contest, and even the old-school 2Ball that features two-on-two team play. There are also unlockable courts for you to find. You can also easily create your own players and cause havoc throughout the NBA with wild league trades and customizations.pWhile the courts and backgrounds are decently drawn, the player models are disappointingly blocky and fail to capitalize on the PS2's graphics power. IHoopz/I gives players a backward walk and the give-and-go, among other moves, but the game's emphasis on shoving, steals, and strategy-defying action confounds these nuances.
